Research Interests:

Dr. Faris's research is focused on the role of the vagus nerves in modulating complex behaviors. Specifically, ongoing projects include: (1) basic science studies in rat and clinical studies in eating disordered patients aimed at examining vagal control of satiety; and (2) basic and clinical studies aimed at determining the role of the vagus in coordinating interactions between major regulatory systems (e.g. satiety and inhibition of somatic pain).
