Esther Krook-Magnuson PhD Named McKnight Land Grant Professor
Congratulations to Graduate Program of Neuroscience faculty member Esther Krook-Magnuson, in the Department of Neuroscience, who was named a McKnight Land-Grant Professor for 2018-2020. The award is designed to advance the careers of new assistant professors.

Dr. Krook-Magnuson studies neural connectivity, and how it relates to designing interventions for neurological disorders, including epilepsy.

Patrick Rothwell and Sarah Heilbronner have been awarded NARSAD Young Investigator Grants. Patrick's project is entitled, " Optogenetic Measurement and Manipulation of Striatal Microcircuit Dysfunction in Neuroligin-3 Mutant Mice" and Sarah's project is "Posteromedial cortex circuits in depression and schizophrenia".

The Beatrice Z. Milne and Theodore Brandenburg Award recognizes exceptional research by graduate students in the basic biomedical sciences. The award reflects the thoughtfulness and generosity of Ms. Beatrice Z. Milne and serves as a lasting expression of her commitment to improving the health of the people of Minnesota, the nation, and the world. The award is given annually to currently enrolled graduate students in one of the following graduate programs: Biochemistry, Molecular Biology & Biophysics (BMBB), Integrative Biology and Physiology (IBP), Microbiology, Immunology & Cancer Biology (MICaB), Molecular, Cellular, Developmental Biology & Genetics (MCDB&G), Neuroscience, Pharmacology, and Rehabilitation Science.
