Policy on Faculty Membership
I. Membership
Membership in the GPN is open to all contract, tenure-track and tenured faculty members at the University of Minnesota.
II. Membership Criteria
Faculty may apply to be members at any point in their academic career. All new members must provide a current curriculum vitae and present a short (20-30 minute) seminar. New members will also be asked to complete a GPN Engagement Survey, indicating their interest in contributing to specific engagement opportunities. Applications are reviewed and approved by the DGS/ADGS.
Faculty who serve as advisors are required to 1) have a funded neuroscience research program, 2) have an advising statement, 3) submit a record of completion of mentorship training (Optimizing the Practice of Mentoring 101), and 4) make at least one service contribution to the GPN per year through activities outlined in the engagement survey. Service contributions will be reviewed annually. Advising faculty who have not engaged in GPN service for a year will be given 3 months to commit to a contribution, after which their eligibility to host rotations and accept new students in their lab will be suspended until reengagement. Advising eligibility is determined by the DGS/ADGS.
